Tracing your child’s education journey

Mission

Tracer is working to empower parents and students while they navigate the complexities of the special education sector and to assist them on their educational journey as the student navigates the required transitions from preschool through to K-12; with the ultimate goal of effectively planning for post-secondary education and/or employment.

Vision

Tracer will serve as an all-in-one platform for parents to store their child’s necessary education documentation in a digital world. By making information easily accessible on both mobile devices and their computers so parents can review their child’s information no matter where they are. In addition, Tracer will also provide a centralized location for advocates and professionals (therapists and teachers) working with families to access this information and provide feedback.

Problem

Navigating the special education system is difficult and often requires implementation of:

  • Individual Education Plans or Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).

  • Parents and guardians need to inform IEPs at a higher level and manage masses of documentation.

  • There is currently no effective way for families to trace the child’s education journey.

Solution

An interactive, easy-to-use platform for tracking your child’s progress.

My Story

I've come to know myself as a mother of a wonderful child with a disability. In 2020, my son Caleb was diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder. Receiving this news was undeniably challenging, and figuring out the next steps proved to be an even greater hurdle. Navigating the education system and understanding what Caleb needed for success felt like an overwhelming task.

As a parent, I found myself inundated with forms, questionnaires, and assessments. It became difficult to discern what truly mattered and what actions to take. One constant challenge was articulating my child's strengths and needs. Unfortunately, I discovered there was nothing in the market that allowed me to effectively track and synthesize all this data, let alone make sense of it or monitor Caleb's developmental journey.

Out of these struggles, I made the decision to create a solution myself. This is how Tracer came to be, with a singular objective: to empower parents of children with special needs. Tracer is not just a tool; it's a source of support and understanding for parents like me, helping us navigate the complexities and celebrate the unique journey of each child.
